Group Making:

  1. Make three groups and let two groups work with the Material Kit.
  2. Set the timer to 15 minutes.

Introduction:

  1. ❤️ (sitsho ngesiXhosa) Who has ever seen a hippo in real life?
  2. ❤️ (isiXhosa) What do you know about hippos?
  3. Show the picture.
  4. ❤️ What do hippos look like?
  5. Let children describe.

Facts about Hippos:

  1. ❤️ I will tell you some nice facts about hippos today. Listen well.
  2. ❤️ Explain all the facts on the facts sheet. 
  3. ❤️ Let children be curious and repeat what you were saying.
  4. ❤️ When you are done, ask some questions:
    Where do hippos live?
    Where do hippos sleep?
    What do hippos eat?
    Do hippos live alone or in a group?
    Why are the noses on top of their head?
    Why do hippos have small birds on their backs?
    What color does their skin turn when they come out of the water?
    When do hippos eat?
  5. Make sure, many children get involved with answering questions.
